(please complete the DCLA entry form, including the signatures, to be turned in at this time) Weigh - In (Check-in): March 20, 2012, (Tuesday) 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. (YOU MUST HAVE THE 3 RABBITS FOR YOUR PEN PICKED OUT PRIOR TO OFFICICAL CHECK-IN, UNOFFICIAL SCALES WILL BE AVAILABLE TO WEIGHT RABBITS SO YOU CAN CHOSE YOUR OFFICIAL PEN) Meat Pen Judging: March 20, 2012 (Tuesday) DQ-ing of Market Rabbits starts at 7:30 a.m., actual judging starting at 8:30 a.m. sharp. Showmanship: March 20, 2012, (Tuesday) 9 a.m.- noon. Sign up at show, contestants are called up periodically. Hands-On Judging Contest: March 20, 2012, (Tuesday) 9 a.m.- noon. Sign up at show, contestants take turns judging rabbits. Release: Follows the judging, except for the top 8 pens to be re-tattooed in case a top 6 pen drops and then pens will move up. (YOU CAN ONLY AUCTION ONE ANIMAL ENTRY). 2. Entries are subjected to the general rules. 3. All entries will be examined at the time of arrival. Any rabbit showing signs of ill health ( ear canker, open wounds, etc.) will not be allowed to remain or enter the show arena. 4. Any exhibtor may validate / tattoo 15 rabbits per pen on Feb 18, 2012. Up to two market rabbit entries may be shown per exhibitor, when only one single animal entry is shown. REQUIREMENTS FOR A MEAT PEN: 1. 3 rabbits of the same breed and variety 2. Rabbits not over 10 weeks of age 3. No single rabbit weighing over 5 lbs. 4. No single rabbit weighing less than 3 lbs. There will be a 4oz. plus or minus variance allowed on weight because of the variation in scale. If any rabbit is disqualified for any reason or does not meet the above requirements, the entries pen is ineligible to show. 5. The American Rabbit Breeder's Association Standard of Perfection will apply to market rabbits.
6. The top 6 exhibitors will present their winning pens in the sale arena. Exhibitors should dress in good jeans/ khakis for this presentation. Please DO NOT decorate your rabbits in ANY manner. You may hold your rabbit in the arena or put pen in a basket. 7. Following the auctions, the exhibitors will deliver the pens as desired to the buyer, either live or dressed. This is a terminal show for the Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Market Rabbits and they must be slaughtered. 8. No more than 50% of the exhibitors will sell if the number of pens competing falls below 20. 9. Other rabbit activities. Sign up at the show from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
Showmanship Contest: Exhibitor age as of March 1, 2012 Juniors: 13 and under Seniors: 14 and up You will need to provide your own rabbit; it does not have to be in show quality. Contestants will be judges on knowledge of rabbit information and ability to handle a rabbit as if they were the judge and give reasoning for judging particulars.
Hands on Judging Contest: Participants will evaluate and place a class of 4 animals. These animals have been previously evaluated and placed by the Judge. 1. An ARBA Standard of Perfection will be available for contestants to use as the judge the class. Contestants will have seven minutes for this evaluation. Answers will be recorded on a judging contest placing card. 2. Based on the class placement of the Judge, a Standardized Hormel Computing Slide used for scoring judging contest, will determine how close each participants is to the judge's placement and how may points each participant will earn for the class. 3. Tiebreakers / call-backs will be provided when necessary . 4. A review of class placement will be conducted at the conclusion of the contest.
Educational/Promotional Rabbit Posters & Displays: Purpose: To promote the rabbit project and / or to share knowledge or the rabbit project. 1. Posters will be divided into two categories: Juniors 13 years of age and under, Senior 14 years of age and up as of March 1, 2012. 2. All posters should be on standard poster board of free standing tri-folding display boards. 3. Posters should promote the rabbit project/rabbit industry or display some knowledge or skill gained in the rabbit project. 4. Exhibitor's name should not appear on the front of the poster. 5. Posters will be judged on eye appeal, originality, subject matter and readablitly. 6. Posters will be judged from a distance of 5 feet. 7. Exhibitors must have a rabbit entry in the show. 8. Entry fee is $2.00 due day of show.
Jackpot Single Fryer: Purpose: To allow exhibitors an opportunity to exhibit a single fryer rabbit from their validated meat pen group. 1. Each exhibitor may only have one entry. 2. Entry may be any rabbit selected from their validated group of rabbits. 3. Entry fee - $5.00/ entry to be paid in cash at time of show. Entry fee will be awarded as prize money being split - 50% to first place, 30% to second place, and 20% to third place. 4. Single fryer class to be judged by ARBA single fryer class standards. 5. Requirements for a single fryer. a. Rabbits not over 10 weeks of age b. Rabbit not over 5 pounds or under 3 pounds There will be a 4oz. plus or minus variance allowed on weight because of variation in scale.
Rabbit Shows are LONG! So bring folding chairs to sit in while waiting and bring grooming tools, water and feed for your rabbits. Please have your rabbits in a suitable cage, NO cardboard boxes, laundry baskets, or open top carriers. Rabbits must be secured at ALL TIMES.

Take I-35 to Sanger, exit Hwy 455 (to Bolivar and Pilot Point), turn left onto Hwy 455 (west), go 1/2 mile. Turn left onto Keaton Rd. Pass the school, child care, and church. We are the first house on the right. Two story red brick with big shop.
